Twins fund new MYO dugouts
It feels like spring may never get here—but it’s really just around the corner! Last week, the Minnesota Twins Community Fund reached out to us with a $7,000 donation to help with new dugouts at the east ballfields of the American Legion Park in Mobridge. The Twins’ donation comes on the heels of additional donations by Royals Charities and Midcontinent Communications as well as the approval of $15,000 of City funds for a qualifying match.
Throughout the donation process, the Twins Community Fund staff were helpful and supportive of what Mobridge Youth Organization is accomplishing in Mobridge. The new dugouts will use simple passive cooling techniques to keep young players cool on hot summer evenings. Design aspects include breeze blocks to block the sun without stifling the breeze, light color cement brick, and a slanted white metal roof painted with reflective white paint.
A special thanks goes to Risa Fryling at KR Building Products in Mobridge for getting us a quote for the project’s raw materials in time for us to meet a tight deadline. We are going to be looking for volunteers this summer to help us with the agrilime and dugout projects. If you’re handy or willing to learn, please reach out to us at hello@mobridgecdc.org.
